Mission
The Clay County GIS & Communications Department is dedicated to delivering accurate, timely information to our employees, partner organizations, and residents. Through transparent and effective communication, we aim to build public awareness, trust, and engagement with county government. We achieve this by using a wide range of tools—including news releases, newsletters, publications, signage, events, our website, social media, digital signage, and live-streamed public meetings—to ensure information is accessible and impactful.
The GIS & Communications Department supports all Clay County departments by developing and managing Geographic Information Systems (GIS), websites, and social media platforms. Our goal is to promote open government and improve access to information, making it easier for residents to connect with county services through multiple channels. Our vision is to be a trusted partner—delivering reliable mapping solutions and communication services that support the work of county departments, regional agencies, and the public, all for the benefit and progress of Clay County and its residents.
Staff
The Clay County, Minnesota, GIS & Communications Department serves both internal and external users. The department consists of 5 full time staff; Director, GIS Coordinator, GIS Technician, Communications Coordinator, and Communications Specialist.
