Foodborne Illness

Foodborne illness (food poisoning) is caused by consuming food or beverages that are contaminated by disease-causing microbes or pathogens. Foodborne illnesses can be spread through recreational or drinking water, from contact with animals or their environment, or through person-to-person spread.

Reporting Illnesses

Call the Minnesota Department of Health Foodborne Illness Hotline if you suspect you have a foodborne or waterborne illness at 877-FOOD ILL (877-366-3455).
